Brave.
What do you think of when you hear the word “brave”?
There are so many things that I think of…. the people who make it their career to help others – doctors, nurses, firefighters, medics, those serving our country. They have seen so many things, helped so many people, and given so much. It’s hard to sum up that bravery in a photograph without capturing them in action. To see them keep it together, be steady, be calm… and be brave… even in difficult circumstances… that is true courage.
Bravery can also exist in everyday moments… courage is a part of everyday life. Sometimes we summon our courage and try something new. Or we watch our children throw caution to the wind and be brave… take their first steps, go down a big slide for the first time, ride a bike… all on their own.
We are able to live bravely because of the courage of others… those who have both lived and fallen fighting for our freedom.
This is part of the Diamond Jubilee Commemoration Memorial Park in Valleyview, Alberta. This memorial was constructed 25 years ago in memory of those who lost their lives serving our country. A small tribute for such an immense sacrifice and act of bravery.
Next, travel with me to Illinois to visit the talented Christine Blaylock and find out her interpretation of this week’s theme.
