Once upon a time, long, long ago… well… thirteen years ago to be exact, we moved to the mountains. I remember driving to work each day, headed west with the Canadian Rockies towering in the distance ahead, thinking how amazing it was to take in that view. We eventually moved away from the mountains and I remember joking how I was trying to figure out how to pack them up and bring them with me!
When we decided to move again, I knew we had to find a way to go back and have the magical giants made up of rock, snow, and ice somewhere in “our backyard.”
Thirteen years ago we lived close to Jasper National Park. Where we live now, we are just a short drive to Banff National Park and Kananaskis Country. I am grateful for every moment that I get to spend in the fresh alpine air soaking in the vast and amazing views that surround us on our adventures.
This photo, taken on a hike up to Mirror Lake in Lake Louise, is one of those moments. This is a glimpse of the beautiful glacial waters of Lake Louise peeking through the trees as we made our ascent up the trail.
The beauty here is unrelenting and breathtaking. As I dream up where 2019 will take me, I can’t wait to discover new places, scenery, and… more mountains.
